Denis Giraudet is the new co-driver of Daniel Carlsson and OMV Kronos Citroën in the WRC 2007

Denis Giraudet, 51 years old from France, is the new co-driver of Daniel Carlsson. The duo will compete in at least six WRC-events this year in the OMV Kronos Citroën World Rally Team. With 30 years of co-driving experience and having worked with 34 different drivers, Giraudet is one of the most experienced co-drivers of the World Rally Championship.

Daniel and Giraudet got to know each other already during their time in Bozian Racing in 2004, when they both competed in the team. Denis got a good impression of Daniel and has high expectations on what they can achieve together:

- I’m very happy to be a part of this programme with Daniel, OMV Kronos Citroën and the Citroën Xsara. Extra exciting is the fact that we start with the Swedish and the Norweigan rallies, two rounds where we should be able to impress. I’ve won tarmac rounds with Didier Auriol and gravel rounds with Juha Kankkunen – now I want to win a snow round too. Of course it will be hard, but Daniel is a very good driver and if we can drive smart and put pressure on Grönholm and Loeb I don’t think it’s impossible!

Also Daniel is very happy about the cooperation with Denis. He discussed with the team, and when Denis accepted to become his co-driver the decision was easy to make. Daniel clearly remembered the calmness that Denis experience added to the Bozian team:

- Denis has been on all the WRC-rounds in 2006, either as a weather crew or as a competitor. He is also a fantastic person with a truly great experience as a co-driver. I really look forward to our cooperation, says Daniel.

During the 2007 season, Daniel is the only driver who has previous experience of all the WRC rounds. Now Giraudet’s experience will be added to that, including 30 years of rallying and 24 years of WRC experience. Even the Uddeholm Swedish Rally is well known to the Frenchman:

- I drove the Swedish Rally for the first time in 1983 with a French privateer. Since that I’ve been there as a spectator a few times and I have competed there with Didier Auriol, Armin Schwarz and Thomas Rådström in 2002. I have quite good knowledge about the rally and as a co-driver I just have to love it; fast corners, a lot of jumps and high speed makes it the perfect rally for a co-driver.

A new thing to Daniel having a French co-driver will be the fact that he the notes will be read in English. However, he has a chance to get used to the English notes before the Swedish Rally, and he is not worried at all:

- We’re going to have at least one test. That’s a good chance for me and Denis to get together and develop our cooperation and to get a feeling with the team. We will of course also drive the recce before the rally and there have the chance to improve even more, so I’m not worried at all. The start of the season will be just fantastic with the great settings that I have now, says Daniel.

The Swedish WRC-round, Uddeholm Swedish Rally, is run the 8th-11th of February 2007. To Daniel at least one test with OMV Kronos Citroën is planned in Sweden at the 5th of February.
